I just destroyed my first safe. Well, more like permanently disabled it. When we bought the house there was a small safe bolted to the floor in the back of a hall closet. It was locked open, so we couldn’t close it. We didn’t have the combo. Well, I unbolted it from the floor, ripped the plastic cover offer of the inside of the door, and dismantled the locking mechanism. It was a very cheaply made safe. Though if you looked and felt it when it was bolted the floor it looked very solid.

Also, they’d painted the hall closet after they’d installed the safe because the wall behind it was a different color than the rest of the closet walls. Although this house was solidly built the previous owners did a lot of little half-assed things that we are having to fix or replace.
